Is it only British holiday makers who get charged a tenner when entering Turkey ? And if so , does anyone know why ?

Hi I just came back on Tuesday from Marmaris. Most countries get charged, it's different prices depending on where you are from, I think its 15 euros for EU countires and 10 for the UK. This is for a 90 day visa to enter the country. So if you go this month for a week then go again within the 90 days, you wouldnt have to pay again. Just hand over your 10 note with your passport and they stamp it.

Basically, the reason you pay is for an entry visa which is valid for 90 days (you can enter and leave as many times as you like within those 90 days!). How much each countries residents pay depends on how much that country charges for Turkish residents to get visas from them. The cost for a Turk to come here is much more than the 10 we pay to go there and the process is much more involved - even for a holiday visa.
