Quiet Resort In Majorca?
We stayed at a Thomson Gold hotel in Camp de Mar which is adults only and right on the beach...not too far from the air port either. Beautiful little beach where apparently some celebrities choose to live! not much there other than a couple of hotels, a couple of shops, etc. and a golf course. It's on a bus route but we hired a car.
Our other favourite place is Puerto Pollensa but this is the furthest away from the airport...there is more there with regard to cafes, shops etc and a market.
Cala Bona and Cala Millor we found to be alot busier tho' we've stayed at the Hotel Alicia right on the seafront at Cala Bona and the location was superb if you have a room with a sea view.

Quiet Resort In Majorca?
If you want the real majorca soller it a quiet place and said before camp de mar. Sa Coma which I like has a strong brit bars there and the restaurants are not all that good if you were self catering.
This link is to a site that has a write up on all the resorts in majorca and may give you a idea of a resort that will suit what you are looking for.

If you are looking to go in october I would look at the southern resort, most of the northern and eastern resorts will start closing up for the season. Some of the resorts you see as being lively will be a lot quieter in october. Another eason I would stick to the southern resort the weather is better away from the mountians.
Illetas is a smaller upmarket resort in the south of the island on the bay of palma and its close to plama. Some very nice hotels here and fine restaurants.
I like c'an pastilla, it is still like a spanish town with the square where the old gents sit and drink coffee, but it joins onto playa de plama which is along the promenade. We stayed in c'an pastilla one august and it was never rowdy. Its just around the corner from the airport, 5 minute transfer.
On not having too many kids around just advoid the oct half term week which is the 3rd or 4th week of the month.
Personally myself I would go to a canary island in october, temps in the high 70' to mid 80'. Get a good 4* hotel H/B in tenerife for 250 to 300 per person a week including return flights from any of the canary island specialist on teletext.
Look on teletext page 276 this is thomsons teletext page with all their named bargins are on there, you can get some very good deal with thomsons with over 50% off the brochure price on some deals. Adult only gold hotels often come up, there will not be a kid in sight.
