Nightlife in Thailand

Hi me and my friend are thinking of going to thailand in June but we heard its full of prostitutes at night in the bars. we would be pretty set on going out most nights to have a laugh but wouldnt wnt to be hounded every night by these. Can anyone tell me if there are normal young students that go this time and where abouts should we go?
