Advice needed on where to book!!

Postby juliet_bravo on Sat Jun 21, 2008 12:22 pm

Hi all :)

First post here so please be kind!

Ok, we're looking for some advice on where to go on holiday-
There'll be myself and my husband and our two single friends (who would prefer seperate rooms.)

We're looking at the last week in August for a week, and think Greek Islands/ Med is where we'd like to be.

Here's the bit we're struggling with!!!.... We don't want to go somewhere like Paphos or Faliraki, we don't really want to go to any spoiled areas (places like Benidorm that are full of English pubs and high-rises)..
we'd like somewhere which has a nice selection of bars and restaurants and things to do.. we think our single friends will be bored if the resort is too quiet & sleepy.. So we need a happy medium really-

We would like to be on the beach ideally, with watersports access.

Hubby & I went to Platanias, Crete, last year and loved it- it was ideal for the kind of place we're looking for (we just don't want to go back to the same place two years running..)

So, thanks for reading my essay!!? Thanks in advance- any ideas would be really appreciated :)

JB :) x

hi, why don't you check out alcudia. mallorca.
it is hot at that time but not unbearable, lots of places to visit and you have a lot of choice when it comes to eating and drinking. it can be as sedate or as lively as you want it to be as there are many places to choose from quiet pubs, live music, or nightclubs, roadside cafes. nightclubs do not seem to effect majority of hotels as tend to be contained , beaches are lovely and it isnt much different from prices at home except duty frees were a lot better especially on wines and spirits. its a very easy place to navigate as buses are regular cheap and almost constant at peak times. you will not be dissapointed. i was dreading it to be honest thought it would be spanish blackpool but it is nothing like that. clear seas and pine forests run along side of probably one of the meds best beaches.

hi it sounds like icmeler in turkey is the perfect place for you because it has everything you are looking for and loads more with marmaris only a short ride away at a cost of 80p.Theres plenty to do there including jeep safari, boat trips, loads more as well. Also the big thing that keeps me returning is value for money, it has slowly gone up over the years but still so much cheaper than euroland as it is still turkish lira.Dont let people put you off turkey you only have to read the reviews from people who have been going to turkey for 10 - 15 years running!!And finally icmeler has a variation of nationalities that visit with lots of swedish, norweign, dutch, russian, english, irish and a handfull of germans!!

I would suggest sa coma Majorca, or peurto pollensa majorca, sounds just what your looking for. I think Icmeler might be a bit on the busy side for your party personally, having been to them all, those would be my two choices. . Hope this helps.
