Best Restaurants in Stalis

Hi, we are a family of 4 travelling to Stalis for the first time on 24th July. I would be grateful for anyones views on the best places to eat as I would rather go on recommendation than take a chance every night. Also, just been reading some other threads on the exchange rate for the euro - do you think I would be better getting my currency here before I go or hanging on and waiting till I get there?

the golden beach restaurant in stalis is an excellent choice. we usually eat there most nights as the menu is very varied could not get bored.
Usually a queue outside to get in always a good sign. once they get to know you, you will not be left waiting long,

Try lamb chops and any fish dish. Tzaiki a starter which is cucumber garlic and yogurt excellent and refreshing, also try stuffed tomatoes.
if you are adventurous this is the place to be,if not all tastes catered for
staff are friendly and very efficient,

as the evening goes on you will be treated to greek dancing and plate throwing,
careful with the raki they do not measure it and as in other countries you may get a shot, here you get a jug of it.
we tried other restaurants and always came back here,

it is in main street ask anybody it is quite large and brightly lit up

Hi Evie8
My wife and I have holidayed in Stalis for the past 6 years am sure you wil enjoy your stay.
The restraunts I would recomend are the Rose and Crown a family run restraunt walk up Beach Road towards Malia and the other is a restraunt just a bit further towards Malia it sits back from the road and has glass cabinet with a selection of fish in it (its fridged)
But realy we have used most over the years and never had a complaint.
The bar next to the Rose And Crown is run by Manus a great guy if you go into the bar or restraunt tell them Vera & Neville are comming on the 19th of August.
Have a great time

Hi we went to Stalis last year and really most places are ok to eat. The place we went to most and would recommend would be El Greco, its right on the beach and everyone is very friendly! Pleae avoid the Coach and Horses english pub.. food was overpriced and awful! Mambo (on the beach road heading toward Malia) is owned by a scottish couple but they do excellent food and the bacon sandwhiches are great when wanting a taste of home! We can also recommend the Rose and Crown as they are very friendly and offer great food!
