Sharm to Cairo to see the attractions

Postby rarey1 on Mon Sep 08, 2008 7:26 pm

Hi,

First post so be gentle !!!!

I have booked a holiday to Sharm for August 2009 ... Looking at the other posts it seems the best way to do the pyramids is to book via EGYPT AIR (using Egypt as your home country) ... However, a few members have mentioned that they booked a private tour once in Cairo ... Has anyone got more details of these including rough costs and wher I can contact them ?

Also. what other sites are not to be missed whilst in Cairo (apart from Sphinx, Pyramids) ?

Cheers

You can definitely use egypt as your home country for your flights with egyptair and you will have no problem at all. I did 6 internal flights booked the same way. I usually arrive around 8am -9am and depart late evening(around 9ish). I always recommend reallifeegypt.com as I have used them the most. I think the cost for a full day tour including private guide, private air con transport, lunch and all entrance fees is about £60 - £65per adult. Whoever you book with make sure you know exactly what you are getting for the money so you don't have any unexpected extra costs.
I enjoy (aside from Pyramids and Sphinx) Cairo museum + mummy room, Solar boat museum and the Citadel. Google them to get more info.

Sharm to Cairo to see the attractions

I like the Saqqara pyramid; it pre-dates the 3 on the Giza plateau.
There is also Memphis; it's only a small site & we did that, plus Saqqara & Giza on our last trip to Cairo in April '08. We missed out the Cairo museum that time tho. The museum is absolutely amazing, so it may be that you should seriously consider that for your 1st visit. I've been in there 3 times & still want to return; ideally, I want to be locked in there for a week. I may actually be able to see all I want to then! "No, I ain't afraid of no ghosts!" I'll just talk to them in a Scouse accent, like Derek Acorah did ; )
