Hi im thinking about going Tunisia in June with my husband. I dont know much about Tunisia so any advice would be helpful. Is it safe and is the hotels up to good hygiene standards. We usually go greek islands and have been looking at Rhodes but Tunisia looks good especially the way the euro is. We love a hotel which is near the beach and a town with everything going for it ie nightlife to cafes. Oh we are in our early 40,s

many thanks

Hi Sam well i can only recommend 1 hotel in Tunisia and that is the Iberostar Phenicia which is practically on the beach mid-way between Hammamet and Yasmine-Hammamet.

Its roughly 1hr 20 mins drive north from Monastir airport and is a huge all-inclusive hotel with its own private beach and all beach sports. There are 2 pools 1 indoor and a disco/club.

The place is modern clean airy and spacious and the staff are brilliant and even more helpfull if you tip them! (1 dinar=40p approx)trust me when i say its worth tipping particularly the waiters and bar staff! Also out of the hotel and bout 5 mins walk there are a few more english bars (if u like that sort of thing)and i think a nightclub or there is more nightlife in Yasmine (a 10-15 min taxi ride away)

i can really recommend the sahara safari 2 or 3 day trips into the dessert. The best excursion i have EVER been on.

Anyway if you would like more info on any of this please reply and i will do my best to help you.

Graeme.

ps try visiting www.iberostar.com for info and pictures

Hi

Been to Tunisia 3 times, 2x in February and once in July. All the hotels we've have been very good and spotlessly clean. Each hotel was right next to the beach.

Have stayed in Hammamet and Port el Kantaoui, the latter being much more of a modern resort with a marina and a selection of bars and restaurants.

I've stayed at two 4* hotels (which I would rate as 3.5*) and one 5* which was definitely worth the full rating.

The weather in July was extremely hot - over 40 degrees each day so if it's heat you are after you won't be disappointed.

The problem with Tunisia as far as your requirements are, is that the nightlife is not as you would find in the more popular Spanish or Greek resorts, in fact it is quite low-key.
