UK to European beach by ferry & car .. advice needed

Hello all

This is my first post on this forum site, and I am hoping you may be able to help & advise me.

My wife is too pregnant to fly abroad, and she is desperate for a holiday, before she delivers baby number one in September. We live in the UK, and want a nice beach holiday somewhere in Europe. We are planning to go away for a week at the begining of July.

Having travelled everywhere by plane, and not having been to the european coast, I need some help to decide on a destination that I can reach by ferry and car. I'm planning on taking my own car, and going to either France or possibly Spain (or other destination) by ferry, to then drive on to a beach resort somewhere.

So the question is, where do I take my pregnant wife? We are looking for a nice coastal area that can be reached by spending around 2-6 hours by ferry, and no more than 2 or 3 hours drive. We plan on spending a few days lounging around on a beach and a decent 4 or 5 star hotel.

Any ideas anyone?
