I thought I would give Viking Airlines the benefit of the doubt and book with them to go to Heraklion - NEVER again!! The plane was old - no t.v and no radio. The seats were so uncomfortable we thought we had adopted the 'crash position' when we were seated as the backs are positioned more forward than usual. I am only 5' 3 but my knees were touching the seat in front! We experienced an 8 hour delay on our return and found the Viking rep to be totally unhelpful and abrupt. There were no courtesy free drinks for the inconvenience and barely an apology. I would rather pay more than travel with Viking Airlines ever again.

I booked a flight to Kalamata with Viking airlines flying out on 4 July. I was very apprehensive about the company especially as there was so much negative feedback on line. The Viking flight was the only one available to us for our holiday dates so I took a chance. I found myself checking every day that they were still in business and was almost expecting to arrive at Gatwick and find there was no service. In the event, they did an excellent job. Check in at Gatwick was fast efficient and courteous. The plane was clean inside and the staff were pleasant and attentive. We were a little late leaving due to air traffic control but we were kept well informed throughout and made up time during the flight. The return flight was on time leaving and landed early. Again the cabin crew were courteous and efficient. The film was good and the food adequate if overpriced ( Viking not the only culprit of course - Easyjet is even more expensive ).
All in all our experience was very positive and I think it fair that this growing airline is given a fair chance. I would fly with them again. I hope others find this report useful.

ONE WORD...****!

NEVER FLY WITH THESE GUYS; POOR SERVICE, OLD PLANES, DELAYED BOTH WAYS BY THREE HOURS, BUYERS OF 'XL' WHO WENT BUST LAST YEAR.

THIS IS ALL.

My mum and I have just returned from Lanzarote flying both ways with viking. I chose them because they were the cheapest and had flight times that gave us an extra days holiday.
It was pot luck really, never heard of them before but would definitely fly with them again.
Check in was quick and easy, both ends and coming back we boarded early so not too much hanging around. Left 15 minutes late going out but more than made the time up. The plane was clean, the staff very friendly, the coffee was brilliant, hot and fresh. The bacon paninis really hit the spot.
Even my mum had enough leg room and shes a biggish lady who usually has trouble with that.
The only niggle was that on-line you could buy headphones for the film, but actually the plane we were on had no entertainment. A minor point because we slept a lot of the way.
Flights being delayed can happen to any carrier, however much money you spend and it is mostly out of the airlines control.
I also flew with XL and no problem with them either.

Well I'd never heard of them either but they were cheaper than anyone so I took a chance. Flying Gatwick to Fuerteventura and back I have NO complaints. Left an hour late going out, I've had worse with other airlines, but made great time coming home and landed early. Excellent aircraft, wingtipped 737-800, clean and comfy with more legroom as standard than any other budget airline I've flown, and I've flown a few.
I checked them out and they are a well established Scandi outfit. Usually flying only to Greek islands etc they are now branching out. In May I did the same flights with Thomas Cook on their 757-300 and couldnt walk when I got off!!! Seats were way too close together. NEVER AGAIN!!!
Yep I'd fly Viking again, no problem..
