Holland America Dress Code

Postby slaydeuk on Sun Jun 05, 2011 10:41 am

I am about to go on a cruise from Boston to Montreal with Holland America. The dress code advised in the cruise documentation for the two formal nights for men suggests jacket and tie, dark suit or tuxedo. This rather suggests that a dinner jacket and black tie, which I would normally wear, would not be the norm. I don't want to be the only man wearing a dinner jacket, so I would welcome any comments from those who are familiar with custom and practice on such a cruise with this line.

Hi, Diner Jacket, suit, or tuxedo will be fine, even a sports jacket and tie would be acceptable.
With HAL about 40% will in wearing a Tux maybe a few more on the New England cruise the general rule is being smart with no jeans or trainers on most nights.

Think of going to a really smart restuarant in your local town on a special day. = formal nights going to the local Pub, bistro = smart casual.
Cruising is like 'Being in the Garden of Eating'
